A Poodle in Paris

Bonne Anniversaire! My birthday this year seriously drug out for four days and it was fantastic. On Wednesday my coworkers got me a little present, balloons and a card, Thursday (my actual bday) I went home to celebrate with the family, Friday all the sales women at work got me a card and we all ate pie and ice cream (they know my dislike for cake),and then yesterday I celebrated with my WONDERFUL friends. I told you this was a birthday bonanza.

So last night before we all dined at Pappadeaux, Lauren came over to decorate my condo. She got these really cute "poodle in Paris decorations (in case you are unaware I have a bit of a love affair with Paris). Then on to dinner,we sipped on awesome frozen drinks while we waited to be seated. I had the bisque (yadda yadda yadda), and other delicious foods. Then it was back to my house for sundaes, gifts and PICTIONARY!

I got lovely gifts from every one, really cool picture frames, candles, seasons 2 & 3 of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, A steelers shirt, these really cool earrings that look like little fruit tarts, bath accessories (someone knew my love of taking baths), books and a really cute headband.

Then we made ice cream sundaes (that's right folks...no cakes in this house..lol) Seriously there were toppings I had never seen before, Peanut butter sauce, oreo pieces, Nestle Crunch sprinkles, Butterfly Sprinkles, Chocolate Shell (which apparently as soon as it touches ice cream forms a hard shell around the outside...AMAZING). Me being the purist that I am I had a hot fudge sundae with whipped cream, nuts, Nestle Crunch and Butterfly Sprinkles. DELICIOUS!
We then played a rousing game of PICTIONARY, complete with easel and huge ass paper, and a solid 5 minutes spent on my friends trying to figure out that the animal I was trying to draw was a hippo.

So thank you all so very much for making my 25th Birthday so lovely, I couldn't have asked for better friends.

Stay turned friends cause next week we celebrate Chris' Birthday, and there will be plenty of pictures taken.

XOXO

1/4 of a century

Today I turn 25 years old, and I must say I can hardly believe it. So I started out the day by sleeping in a little before driving to Snellville to get my hair colored. I hit a few stores up at the Avenue Shops and treated myself to a new shirt and a pair of earrings. Missy and Beckham drove out to have dinner with us. We dined at Provino's for my free birthday meal, followed by presents at my parents house. A lovely low-key birthday.
25 isn't what I thought it would be. Honestly I thought I would be married by now with two kids. Needless to say that isn't where I am at in my life, and that's probably a good thing. I continue to work at a job I love (most of the time), I own my own home, I have a great group of friends, and a really cool family. Life is good. So if the first 25 years of my life are any indication of the next 25 years, then I know that it will be just lovely. Twenty-five years. Don't they go by in a blink?

So thank you to everyone for making my day so special. xoxo

Black & White Wednesday!

"You don't have to cook fancy or complicated masterpieces - just good food from fresh ingredients." - Julia Child

A slow day at work means one thing.... BLACK & WHITE COOKIES! This week at work has been awfully slow, which means I get to make FuN StUfF. Stuff that hasn't been ordered for a guest, stuff that I feel like making. So after popping in my CD this morning at work (Michael Jackson Number Ones)and hearing Black or White.. I decided that today would be an excellent day to make the infamous New York Black & White Cookie. But since that only took an hour out of my day I decided to make something nice and summery for the new menu...Drumroll please.....Behold my Coconut Strawberry Semifreddo with Strawberry Confiture.

The Beginning of Birthday Bonanza 2009

It's that time again! BIRTHDAY BONANZA!!!!!! In my little group of friends we have a May/June cluster of Birthdays. It starts out with Johnny D's, followed by Eric's and mine, and closing with Chris' Birthday. Here are some pictures from Johnny's and Eric's birthdays. For Johnny D's (I missed the dinner portion because of work), but for the part I could attend we went to Eric and Chris's house to open presents, eat cake and play Pin the Tail on Johnny D! It was hilarious .. Lauren made the visual aid. LOL.

For Eric's birthday we all gathered at Lauren and Jeff's condo in midtown, and went to the Vortex for dinner. We then went back to the condo for gifts and cake before heading back out of a midnight showing of the :ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW: Chris made lovely little bags for us for the show. The contents of the bag... toilet paper, a deck of cards, rubber gloves, a party hat, and a newspaper.(to be used at different parts of the show) Fun Times. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOYS!

another day another dollar

"oh...think twice...just another day for you and me in paradise." -phil collins

So here is how my day went today. After staying up late last night debating which character on Grey's Anatomy is actually going to die, I woke up a little late.. not too late but late enough that I almost didn't have time to stop and get a bagel at Einsteins (for all those who care I get an onion bagel with sundried tomato schmeer). I arrive at work 5 minutes late : which I never do : and proceed to start my day. Today I made a cute little cake for a Baptism. I thought it came out lovely. Then I went to a meeting where I drew a masterpiece. I really do think it is some of my best work. The meeting took so long I made the drawing two pages. I call it. "my trip to camp raintree". I have never been to camp, nor heard of a camp called camp raintree but .. this is what I imagine camp looks like. :) Enjoy.

Andrew Shepard

My favorite president of all time... Andrew Shepard. He was in the best love story of all time…in my opinion. A love story called…..”The American President” . I love this movie. When the chief executive falls for a lobbyist his 63% popularity rating plunges to a 41% in seven weeks. Can they find the balance between private romance and public Presidency? Watch this movie. Who couldn't love Sydney Ellen Wade of Virginia?

I love this movie so much. I have seen it probably a hundred times, and even though I own this movie (both on DVD and VHS) I still find myself TiVo-ing it whenever it is on television. I know every line to every speech from the movie, I often recite the french lines Sydney speaks during the fabulous dinner scene. Still with each time I watch it I am brought to tears.

Looking Forward to...

Have you seen this trailer yet???

Julie & Julia is the story of passion, ambition and butter. It is the story based on Julia Child's memoir "My Life In France"; while telling the story of her learning to cook at Le Cordon Bleu in France, it then cuts to Julie in New York. Julie, who feels like she is leading a boring and uneventful life hears that her best friend has been offered money to the rights for her blog. So Julie decides to start her own blog, after all she has thoughts too. Frustrated in her own life Julie decides to chronicle her attempt to cook all 524 recipes in Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking in a year's time.

I am certain that even though I have only seen the trailer for this movie it will be lovely. So BON APPETITE!

Hola Amigos! So yesterday was Cinqo de Mayo. I celebrated with some friends by going to a mexican restaurant and drinking some margaritas. So we drank and ate while the sound of karaoke singers floated through the restaurant. Not long after dinner did Brandon, Chris and Eric decided to sing too. Happy Cinqo De Mayo. Good times;)

Lost Fortune?

Right now $87.2 million dollars sits unclaimed. What happened to this winning lottery ticket?

On more occasions than I'd like to admit I purchase lottery tickets. Some would say I have a bit of a gambling problem, I'm not one to argue so we will just say that I do. Every time the lottery gets over 30 million I start buying tickets. Convincing myself that I am going to win the lottery. Going over how I'll call out sick for work the next day, plan on what I'll do with my winnings. Give some to the family, charities, and buy a house with an in-ground swimming pool. I would travel to all the places I've dreamed of going; Monaco, Ireland, New Zealand, Canada, Italy, New York and London. Dine at all the most exclusive restaurants, sit at all the Penguins and Steelers games, and dress in the most fabulous outfits.

So how is it possible that this person has not claimed their fortune? And how is it possible that I haven't won yet? Perhaps playing the lottery is a waste of money, a sense of false hope for an "easy way out", a tease. But I guess I haven't learned my lesson because I will still keep playing.

Easy Like Sunday Morning

"The life of the wealthy is one long Sunday."
Georg Buchner

This week seems to have gone by incredibly slow. Not saying that's a bad thing; its just nice to finally have a day all to myself. Today was and is just one of those days where I can go at my own speed, and not worry about having to be at a certain place at a certain time and just be a "lady of leisure".

So today I woke at 11:30 (yikes i know), then I went to the mall to buy some new shoes for work, looked in a couple stores. Then I went to the grocery store where I bought stuff to make dinner tonight. I also bought Morning Star Corn Dogs, which although they are vegetarian, they are DELICIOUS. So I came home, and made my corn dog lunch (I had a peach cup with it), and now I am in for the day, I'm going to read the newspaper, watch movies and fold laundry. Which may sound completely boring, but today I could use a little boring.
